Initiative for Gender Equality and Development (IGED-AFRICA)

Initiative for Gender Equality and Development in Africa (IGED-AFRICA), was established in 2011 by three young Ghanaian women who had a strong conviction that the key to attaining democracy and development lies in promoting and attaining of gender equality and human rights and that, the involvement of women and youth in decision making lays a better strategy for national development.

IGED-AFRICA seeks to build amongst the human rights, women environment and development movements a platform of well-informed, confident, competent activists and organisations built from bottom up to national, regional and international platforms.

Mission Statement

To promote and strengthen the voice, capacity and participation of women and young people in the realisation of their rights and development through research, training and advocacy at the community, national, regional and international levels.

Vision Statement

An empowered continent, where women’s rights and economic empowerment are a reality; youth development a priority and human rights enjoyed by all for  the sustainable development of the continent.
